Lumen Lumen is the amount of light that is produced by a lamp. Different types of lamps (incandescent, CFL, halogen, LED) need a different amount of energy to produce the same amount of light. However there are always other factors which influence the exact amount and direction of light. Despite differences in energy consumption, the amount of lumen is the same for different types of lamps and therefore they should produce the same amount of light.
